The hills overlooking the Tairawhiti / Gisborne region make for a great place to watch the Milky Way rise. On this particular winter evening there was a prominent orange airglow that lingered in the night sky for most of that week. The bright spot on the hill is from the old lighthouse that was replaced with a newer, modern version a few weeks after this was shot.
